I received this question in reply to my last post, and will attempt to answer here.
I'm curious (as I am with every believer) why you believe in the veracity of the Bible rather than the Koran or the book of Mormon, etc. After all, the Koran and the Book of Mormon (and many other so-called holy books) make the same assertion, that this particular book is the word of God. I'm not asking what is wrong with those books (as I'm sure that we both agree that they are not the word of God); rather, what is "right" with the Bible that makes it true in your opinion.
The most honest answer I can give to this question right now is that faith is what makes me sure that the Bible is true. My defense of the Bible is found within its very pages. Romans 1:20-25 and Hebrews 11:1-3 are some good scriptures to explain this.

I said before that the Bible is the inspired word of God, as found in 2 Tim 3:16. When you and I think of inspired, we think of great authors, or musicians. Shakespeare was inspired. Beethoven was inspired. It's used in the Bible meaning "God breathed". It does not refer to the authors, but the words which they wrote. Therefore, the Bible is the product of God.
I realize using the Bible to defend it probably does not make much sense to unbelievers.
I may not have expressed it as clearly as I would like, but it is from the heart.

I'm glad that you can see that defending the validity of the Bible by quoting the Bible is not convincing to non-Christians.
I hope you can also understand that the conclusions of non-Christians come straight from the heart as well. I don't disbelieve because I'm disingenuous or I just don't want to believe; I disbelieve because I honestly feel, from the bottom of my heart, that there is no God.
